Managing Osteoarthritis: Helping Coco the Staffie

At Vetsy, we're committed to providing comprehensive care for pets of all ages, including those facing the challenges of aging and chronic conditions. Today, we're sharing the heartwarming story of one beloved geriatric Staffie who found relief from osteoarthritis with the help of our expert team.

Meet Coco: A geriatric Staffie in need of pain relief

Coco, a senior Staffie, had been slowing down and struggling more on walks, much to the concern of her devoted owner, Max. Despite being on joint supplements, Bella's mobility continued to decline, and Max felt she had suddenly aged - it was time to seek professional help.

Assessment and treatment plan

Max booked an appointment with one of our certified vets at Vetsy for a video assessment of Coco's condition. During the assessment, the vet was able to observe Coco’s gait and mobility, which clearly indicated that she was in pain.

Given the progressive nature of osteoarthritis, the vet recommended introducing pain relief to improve Coco's quality of life. After discussing all available options, taking on board Coco’s notorious sensitive tummy, it was decided to trial therapy with anti-inflammatories to manage Coco's discomfort.

Road to recovery

Following a one-month course of anti-inflammatories trial, Coco showed significant improvement. Her pain was reduced, and she was able to move more comfortably. With her symptoms under control, the vet and Max could focus on rebuilding Coco's muscle strength through physiotherapy and acupuncture sessions.

A brighter future for Coco

Thanks to the personalised care and support provided by Vetsy, Coco was able to regain her zest for life. Max was thrilled to see his beloved companion back on her feet, enjoying walks and playtime once again. With ongoing management and support, Coco can continue to live a happy, comfortable life in her golden years.
